Kidnapped Giuliana Sgrena's plea for help

Je suis Giuliana Sgrena du quotidien il manifesto. Je suis arrivée en Irak à la fin de janvier pour témoigner de la situation. Ici, la situation est dramatique. Les gens meurent tous les jours. Ils n'ont pas les moyens pour vivre. Ils sont... les femmes, elles sont violées, les enfants même sont en prison, les vieux, tous le monde souffre de l'occupation. Vous devez mettre fin à l'occupation.

Alors, je demande au gouvernement Italien, au peuple Italien qui s'est battu contre la guerre et contre l'occupation, je demande à mon mari, s'il te plait, aide-moi. Je dois dire... tu dois faire le possible pour demander la fin de l'occupation. Je compte sur toi, tu peux m'aider.

Comme tous les amis qui ont lutté avec moi contre la guerre et contre l'occupation. Ce peuple ne veut pas d'étrangers ici. Personne ne doit entrer en Irak en ce moment, même pas les journalistes, personne. Ici ils ne veulent pas d'étrangers. Pas d'italiens mais pas d'autres étrangers aussi.

Here is my attempt at a translation

I am Giuliana Sgrena from the daily (newspaper) Il Manifesto. I arrived in Iraq at end of January to witness the situation. Over here, the situation is horrendous. People die everyday. They don't have the means to survive. Women are violated (raped/sexually harassed ?). Children are in prison. And that includes old people too. Everyone suffers from the occupation.

Therefore, I ask the government of Italy, the Italien people who are against the war and the occupation; I ask my husband, please, help me. I should say, at least ask for the end of the occupation. I count on you, you can help me.

Like my friends who were with me in condemning the war and the occupation. These people do not want strangers here. Nobody must come to Iraq at this moment, not even journalists, nobody. Here they do not welcome strangers. Not Italians, not anybody.
